Craftsmanship

Melana Kir is defined by craftsmanship, time, and intention. Each piece is currently crafted by the hands of its founder through a slow and deliberate process where care matters more than speed. Objects are made to be used, to endure, and to carry meaning.

Crochet as a Language

Crochet forms the foundation of each bag. A slow technique where repetition becomes structure and imperfection becomes character. Crochet entered Melana Kir through closeness and care, learned in childhood and later reinterpreted as a design language.

Shaped by memory, intuition, and material, no two bags are ever the same. These roots define the form, everything else grows from there. What remains visible is the hand: subtle irregularities that make each bag entirely its own.

Charms & Composition

Handmade charms are crafted individually and assembled intuitively, transforming each bag into a unique composition. They are not decorative elements; they are integral to what the bag becomes.

Their composition is never fully planned, but discovered through making.
They give each piece its final identity.

Charm compositions are selected by the designer and form part of each piece’s identity. Customization is available exclusively at physical events.

Memory, roots & continuity

Melana Kir is shaped by places, relationships, and values that extend beyond the present. Generational and family perspectives, alongside lived spaces and personal experience, inform the way each piece comes into being. Nature, everyday life, and memory act as quiet references, grounding the work without defining it explicitly.

While each piece is currently made by one pair of hands, the vision looks forward. Melana Kir imagines a future rooted in community: a shared practice where craft becomes a means of connection, knowledge is passed on, and making creates opportunity. Continuity, rather than scale, remains the priority.
